Dvora Davis is British born but has lived in the U.S.A and Spain as well. She now lives here in Holland. She has performed as a singer & songwriter in many genres with strong ties in jazz and adult contemporary guitar based music. Dvora started seriously listening to her fathers jazz collection around nine years old, and wrote her first song at 11. She really is a story teller! As time went by she did many performances in various bands of her own.
Dvora started taking an interest in underground electronic music, and soon discovered her talents as a producer. Dvora landed a record deal with a well known record label writing and producing underground dance music. Not only did she produce herself but she wrote for and produced other artists. Her records sold around Europe. To this day the records she produced are still being sold as rare collectors items some for as much as 20 pounds (around 35 euros).
Dvora has two alias names to which she produced under they are Lorraine Lowe and Lorraine Lucantoni when these names are googled you will find out much much more about her as a producer and find the records which are still being sold. In London she also sided with an orchestra that included talented jazz violin player Nico Beadle and has also made a guest appearance with Jamie Cullum. She has had sessions with the likes of Roy Hargrove, Marcus Miller, Antonia Hart, Hiram Bullock, Incognito and more.
Since living in Holland Dvora Davis has worked hard establishing herself as a successful singer and songwriter. She recently took 3 months out to write a new album, which is a collaboration with her songwriting partner Jochem Julius Braat, a very talented composer, arranger and pianist. This collection of works is titled ‘A Simple Affair’ taken from the title of one of their songs. It is a dynamic collection of feels from modern to beautiful standards. The songs are on love, relationships and people and Dvora and Jochem are a superb combination. Dvora say’s ‘I am stunned, we come together and there is an explosion of creativity. Finding the right person to work with is in music is never easy.... We are blessed.’
Dvora has a unique warm and dynamic voice she takes hold of you everytime. It is a one of a kind voice that rings out loud and true, whatever she sings you believe. She is a storyteller and she will be performing her new songs very soon in her German tour with the Max Vax Trio and at The Hague Jazz in Holland , and other up and coming concerts with her new band The Dvora Davis and Julius Braat Ensemble.
In addition Dvora Davis has an album called 'Open Book', a collection of beautiful contemporary guitar based songs taken from her direct life experiences, a while back Dvora performed these same numbers in a concert resulting in an excellent review in the Parool Newspaper. Dvora Davis is Engelse, maar woonde behalve in Londen ook langere tijd in de Verenigde Staten en Spanje. Ze bewoog zich als zangeres in verschillende genres, maar in haar hart is en blijft ze vooral jazz-zangeres. In Londen trad ze langere tijd op met een vast orkest - samen met de talentvolle jazz-violist Nico Beadle - maar ook als gast bij onder andere Jamie Cullum. Ze woont momenteel in Amsterdam.
